New entertainment center coming to Oxford, city plans vote on $5 million bond in funding

Oxford, Ala (WIAT) – A 40 to 50 thousand square-foot entertainment center is coming to Oxford.

The new facility will be built at the former Blue Spring cotton mill on Spring Branch Road according to city officials. The location is just south exit 185 off Interstate 20.

Oxford mayor, Alton Croft says the city plans to offer the private owner a $5 million bond to help fund the project.

“The reason why we’re involved in it again is to control the site.” said Croft, “If something were to go wrong, that we would be able to step in and do what we need to do to secure that site for the citizens of Oxford.”

Croft says the facility would include an indoor trampoline park, go-cart track, ninja warrior course, arcade, laser tag venue and more.

“What we want to do for the citizens is get this energy and continue to make our city grow and prosper.” said Craft, “I think this is one of the ways we can do it.”

Craft says he hopes people will spend more money in Oxford as more businesses continue to open between exit 185 and 188 along Interstate 20.

“At least get you to stop, eat here and we’ll hopefully double that size. That will create that traffic pattern between two of our best exits,” said Croft.

The city will hold a public hearing concerning their plans followed by a vote in early May.
