Mental Health Summit to address African-American youth suicide risk


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A summit is taking place in Birmingham today to explore the risk of suicide in African-American youth in the city.

It’s called “Fighting The Rise of Suicide in Black Youth.”

The summit will explore the risk of suicide in black youth while strategizing a community response to address mental health issues.

Several guest speakers are expected to attend this summit. It’s free and open to the public.

The summit is happening at the Norton Campus Center Wednesday at Birmingham Southern College from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
