FEMA and the FCC to send out emergency alert

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)— On August 11, FEMA and the FCCC will send out a test emergency alert to all wireless phones. This is part of a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and the Wireless Emergency Alerts. It’s expected to happen around 1:20 p.m. The test is to ensure public safety leaders can deliver urgent alerts in times of an emergency or disaster.
