More troops will be sent to southern border

(WIAT) — The southern border may not be any closer to getting a wall, but it is getting more troops. The U.S. Department of Defense approved a request from the Department of Homeland Security for more military support on the southwest border.

Pentagon officials say the defense department is still determining how many troops to send and whether they will be active-duty or national guard forces. The move is unrelated to President Trump’s “threat” to declare a national emergency to divert military resources to the border.
