Missing 22-year-old woman found dead in Bessemer

BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT)-A family in Jefferson county wants to know what happened to their loved
one and why she died.  Sunday afternoon family members of 22 year old Crystal Vasquez found
her body near some railroad tracks after they had spent six hours searching for her.

Bessemer Police tells CBS 42 investigators are trying to find out what happened to the 22 year old.

“Well its very sad especially for the family to find their own loved one.  We got a call at 3:45 Sunday 
afternoon saying that they had located their missing loved one.  And we got their we did verify that
it was Crystal Vasquez” Bessemer police said.

The 22 year olds body was discovered around 3:45 Sunday afternoon behind a neighborhood in the
1300 block of Airport Lane.  The cause of death is unclassified.  Vasquez was listed as missing
out of Birmingham last week.

“Well that next step is to find out what manner did she die.  There wasn’t any obvious signs of trauma that we could determine yesterday.  The Coroners office has miss Vasquez now and they are going to perform an autopsy and we will be able to go further once we have that answer”.

An autopsy is expected to be done soon on the 22 year old to discover the cause of her death.
CBS 42 reached out the family members of Vasquez but no one from her family wanted to talk on
camera.
