BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — It’s a disease that affects thousands from children to adults. Sickle cell disease is a group of inherited red blood cells disorder. People who have it have an abnormal protein in their red blood cells.
On Saturday, May 4, the Central Alabama Sickle Cell Foundation will host the annual sickle cell walk. It will be held at Linn Park. Onsite registration will begin at 8 a.m. The warm-up starts at 8:45 a.m. The walk starts at 9 a.m.
The annual Sickle Cell Walk helps the foundation assist affected families and people who have the disease.
