Man who stole vehicle, led police on pursuit in Homewood, charged

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — Homewood police announce that the suspect that fled in a stolen vehicle and crashed into a building Sunday on Greensprings Highway has been charged. On Tuesday, Homewood detectives obtained warrants from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office on 36-year-old Paul McCary of Huntsville, Alabama.

McCary has been charged with two counts of burglary which occurred prior to the pursuit in the 100 block of Woodmont Drive and at a medical office at Brookwood Hospital ($10,000 bond).

McCary is also charged with resisting arrest ($300 bond) and reckless endangerment ($300 bond).

McCary has been transferred to the Jefferson County Jail and is held on a total bond of $10,600. Homewood police state that Samford Public Safety will be obtaining a theft of property first-degree warrant on McCary for the vehicle theft that occurred on their campus.
