HANCEVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — A man in Cullman is behind bars after he was arrested for first degree rape and sexual extortion.
Francisco Javier Martinez, 26 of Hanceville, was arrested by Cullman County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation determined that he had abused a child, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators have been conducting an investigation for several weeks and executed a search warrant at Martinez’s residence on Monday, Aug 14.
According to the sheriff’s office, Martinez is also living in the U.S. illegally. The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office has been working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and ICE has detained the paperwork. Once Martinez’s charges are filed or he attempts to make bond, then ICE has discretion to take him into federal custody.
Martinez remains in jail with a bond total of $35,000.
