Man arrested, charged with murder in fatal Bessemer shooting

BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) — Bessemer police are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting off of Center Street from Thursday, December 6.

On December 6, officers responded to Center Street around 10 p.m. and found Mac Wayne Early on the scene deceased from gunshot wounds, per a release from the Bessemer Police Department. Authorities later determined that the victim had gotten into an argument with another individual before the shooting occurred. 

After reviewing evidence, multiple charges were filed against Brandon K. Phillips on December 7. Phillips has been charged with murder, attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and shooting into an occupied dwelling. 

Thursday, Phillips was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. His total bond stands at $550,000.
