Looking ahead to Amazon Prime Day in Alabama once fulfillment center opens

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Amazon Prime Day kicked off Monday and will last for a full 48 hours.

Prime members will be online shopping among the thousands of products Amazon has to offer. Unlike Black Friday or Cyber Monday, these deals last a little longer. And if you don’t have Amazon Prime, you can sign up for a free trial.

Some Prime members are eligible for same-day delivery during the Prime Day extravaganza. Most of the cities that are able to receive the cool offer have an Amazon fulfillment center in their area.

The Bessemer Amazon fulfillment center is set to open in 2020. Originally intended to open in 2019, Amazon delayed its opening due to a variety of factors. The company still plans to launch the new facility and city leaders say they are still excited about the new addition to the city.

With a new fulfillment center in Bessemer, central Alabama residents could be looking at same-day delivery, but until then Prime still offers 2-day free shipping for members.

Many of the deals include electronics, kitchen items and school supplies. Online shopping can be a little confusing, but don’t worry Amazon is way ahead of you. They have created a helpful guide to help you as you shop.
