WATCH: Mayor Woodfin addresses violence against children, offers $25K reward for each case

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Mayor Randall Woodfin held a press conference Tuesday morning to announce partnerships with local organizations to help the fight violence against children.

The Birmingham mayor was joined by community faith leaders, CrimeStoppers HABD, and additional participants to support Woodfin during the announcement.

Mayor Woodfin announced that any information leading to the arrest of suspects in one of the child shooting will be rewarded with $25,000. In six child shooting cases, only one suspect has been arrested.

Four months ago, 2-year-old Major Turner was shot and killed after an unknown suspect fired shots into their residence. Turner’s mother was also injured in the shooting.
