Trapped boaters rescued after canoes overturn in Buck Creek

HELENA, Ala. (WIAT) — Friday morning, the Helena Fire Department rescued several trapped boaters from a log in Buck Creek.

Four people were reportedly out canoeing on Buck Creek Friday morning when their canoes overturned. Three of the boaters became trapped on a log that was stuck on a train trestle support. The fire department arrived around 10 a.m. and performed a water rescue. All three boaters were rescued safely.

“Please be aware of the water conditions and your skill levels before attempting this type of trip,” the Helena Fire Department said in closing on their Facebook page.
