CHILDERSBURG, Ala. (WIAT) — The suspect in the Childersburg shooting that took the life of 23-year-old Jackie Dogen as she was preparing for a birthday party for one of her kids has been charged.

According to the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, Tre’Querius Marquez Twyman, 23 years old, has been charged with murder and assault second degree. His total bond is set at $1,050,000.

Dogen was killed on Sept. 14 while getting ready for her child’s birthday party. She was a mother of four, including an infant. According to family, the suspect is the father of Dogen’s children. Officials say Twyman entered the Childersburg apartment and began arguing, and police were called. Police say he left, then returned and shot Dogen. Police arrived on the scene as he fled, and he shot at an officer, striking him in the foot.

Another officer chased him, and Twyman was apprehended after a shootout where he was struck by gunfire. He was taken to UAB Hospital for surgeries.
