BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — This weekend Saint Elias Maronite Church will hold its annual Lebanese Food and Cultural Festival. The event features traditional Lebanese cuisine, dance performances, a silent auction, and a 5-k run.
Lebanese delicacies offered include Baked Kibbee, Rolled Grape Leaves, Spinach Pies, Baked Kibbee, and Falafel Sandwiches, Tabouleh (Lebanese Salad), Grilled Lebanese Lemon Chicken, Loobia (green beans), Rice, Hummus and Pita Bread. Desserts include a variety of baklawa, kaak (Lebanese sugar cookie) and Lebanese ice cream.
Prices for food will range from $3.00 a la carte spinach pies to plates of food for $12.00 and up. Debit and credit cards will be accepted.
The Saint Elias Cedar 5K Run will take place on Saturday starting at 8:00 A.M. The race benefits the Exceptional Foundation of Birmingham, which helps individuals with special needs enjoy social and recreational activities.
Free parking will be available in the UAB Express 1 parking lot.
