SNEAD, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Snead Police Department is still mourning the loss of a K9 officer who police say died of a heat stroke while being boarded at a veterinary office outside of Blount County.
K9 Officer DiDi was temporarily housed in an outdoor kennel at the time of her death, according to police.
An investigation has determined that there was no criminal negligence involved in Officer DiDi's death. Police say the standards to which the kennel DiDi was housed in were acceptable. They say they're working to determine the exact cause of her death as to prevent other deaths in the future.
Officer DiDi is terribly missed by her handler, the department, and the entire town.
