Smoking no longer allowed in public housing beginning Tuesday

(WIAT) - New guidelines from the Department of Housing and Urban Development has now banned smoking in all public housing units in the U.S. 

People will now get up to three warnings before the threat of eviction. The smoking ban applies to cigarettes, cigars, and pipes. The ban does not include e-cigarettes and chewing tobacco. 

The American Lung Association approved the smoke ban tweeting that ten years of hard work was finally paying off. According to the Lung Association, second-hand smoke exposure poses serious health threats to children and adults.
