Selma mayor files lawsuit against city

Local News

SELMA, Ala. (WIAT) — The city of Selma is facing a lawsuit filed by its mayor.
According to CBS 42 sister station WAKA, Selma mayor Darrio Melton filed the lawsuit after the city council voted to override Melton’s vetoes of two ordinances recently passed by the council.
Over a month’s time, Melton and the city council have been at odds over the city treasurer and the budget.
Residents say the city will never make progress until the mayor and the city council work together to make it happen.
