ADAMSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — Investigators have identified the human remains found Tuesday off Minor Parkway as a man missing since October 2017.

Detective Sgt. Chris Shaw tells us the remains have been identified as Edward “Eddie” Abbott.

CBS 42’s Robert Sherman spoke to Abbott’s daughter Ashlyn  Nilson. She said back in October, her father walked off from the Cloverleaf Trailer Park in Adamsville and had not been seen since.

Police identified his remains by two methods Wednesday; the first was by his clothing, and the second was a shoulder plate he had surgically implanted. Police were able to trace the serial code on the plate and confirm it was the one belonging to Abbott.

Abbot’s daughter Ashlyn called the ordeal agonizing.

“When I say it’s been agonizing–I hear people say all the time ‘Oh I can’t imagine’ and you cannot imagine. It is something that has literally haunted me every day for almost the past nine months and I’ve thought about him multiple times a day.”

Ashlyn says the whole family was grieving nine months ago, and they’re prepared to grieve again, though this time, it might be even harder, though they are grateful to have closure.
