BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) — Bessemer police have announced the recovery of a stolen ATV meant to be sold on an online marketplace.

According to reports, authorities were notified by the victim who said he went to go meet someone named “Bill Williams” to sell the ATV from a LetGo ad. Once the two met, the suspect asked to test drive the vehicle. The victim obliged and never saw the suspect again.

A day later, police responded to a call regarding shots fired with several juveniles in the area. Authorities then found the stolen ATV and arrested the suspect and a fellow juvenile.

Kendarriun Brown was charged with receiving stolen property in the first degree and is now in the Jefferson County Jail on a $15,000 bond. The juvenile was charged with the same crime and transported to intake.

Bessemer police want to remind citizens to always be cautious when using online marketplaces and avoid situations like this.
