Pelham Police Chief Larry Palmer gives heartfelt good bye ahead of retirement

Local News

PELHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Pelham Police Department said goodbye to Chief Larry Palmer Friday afternoon.

Palmer had been chief of the department since 2015 and has been serving the residents of Pelham as an officer for 33 years.

In a video posted to Twitter, Palmer signed off one last time and was greeted by a crowd of officers saluting him.

“Thank you, guys. God bless you. You’ll never know what you meant to me. Finest group of guys I’ve ever served alongside of. Y’all take care of each other, support each other. And I’ve always said it, ‘if you need me, I’m there,'” Palmer said in the video.

Although Friday was Palmer’s last day of work, he won’t officially retire until October 1.
