Pedestrian identified in fatal Highway 280 car accident

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Highway 280 is back open after a fatal car accident shut down all lanes Saturday morning.

Saturday morning, Highway 280 Eastbound lanes were closed at Inverness Parkway due to a motor vehicle accident. Drivers were rerouted on Inverness Center Drive.

A pedestrian was crossing the highway, hit by a car and killed, the sheriff’s office report. The victim has been identified as 56-year-old David Jackson of Birmingham, the Shelby County Coroner tells CBS 42.

At this time, There is no word on the driver’s condition.
