(WIAT) – Tuesday marks a somber anniversary for fans esteemed of comedian Robin Williams.

One year ago on August 11, the man who gave life to iconic characters like Mork and Mrs. Doubtfire took his own life.

Despite years of battling severe depression and a recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, his family said Williams never expressed suicidal thoughts or behavior.

This morning clinical psychologist Dr. Josh Klapow joined Gina Redmond on Wake Up Alabama.

Dr. Klapow said there are many warning signs that parents, family and friends should look out for if they believe someone close to them is contemplating suicide.

The Alabama Suicide Prevention and Resources Coalition said suicide has no boundaries.

It doesn’t matter your age, race, education or income level, so it’s important to recognize when someone is at risk.
