Officers respond to reports of toy gun at school

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Police Officers responded to Hudson K-8 School this morning on a report of a student with a toy gun.

The 7-year-old male student was on a city bus around 7:15 a.m. when the bus driver observed the student playing with the gun.

Upon arrival at the school, the bus driver alerted the principal.

The child’s parents were contacted by the school, but no charges are being sought against the boy.

According to Lt. Scott Thurmond with the Birmingham Police Department, the school will address the situation internally.
