BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Nexus Fitness hosted the Murph Challenge. The workout was the favorite of Navy Lt. Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005.
To complete the Murph Challenge, the athletes run a mile, then perform 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 squats, and another mile to finish the workout. Here’s what one organizer told us about the Murph challenge.
Lacy Gunnoe, Team Red, White and Blue, said, “It’s definitely going to be a challenge, but a way to remember folks by sweating, by going through a little bit of pain, a little bit of suffering, to remember how they suffered and died for the freedoms we enjoy every day.”
