BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Mayor Woodfin announced on Facebook the City of Birmingham’s OpenGov portal that will disclose transparency with tax information and reports.
Woodfin and the city council say they want to build trust with residents, and increase community engagement with the creation of OpenGov, according to a release.
OpenGov has three sections:
- Open Data, gives access to municipal data, Birmingham Safety Dashboard, Economics Dashboard, housing etc.
- Open Checkbook, provides up-to-date financial information about the city’s actions to spend funds. This includes vendor and payroll data by linking directly to the City’s accounting software, according to the release.
- Board Agencies, a review of all city board and agencies, creating an interactive web portal, and placing clear emphasis on ethical standards, according to the release.
