MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — A new memorial dedicated to victims of lynching is on display at the Peace and Justice Memorial Center and Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Ala.

The monument honors the 24 men, women, and children who were victims of lynching and racial violence during the 1950s.

April 29, the display was placed by the Equal Justice Initiative as a part of its 30th anniversary celebration.

Included on the monument is the name of Emmett Till whose brutal death in Mississippi in 1955 helped bring the civil rights movement to national attention.
