New Congress goes into session

WASHINGTON D.C. (WIAT) — Alabama’s federal delegation is being sworn in today. The 116th Congress officially goes into session in Washington D.C., where democrats will take over the House of Representatives.

Congress will begin further deliberations over the ongoing partial government shutdown. House democrats are expected to introduce legislation to fund the government without money for President Trump’s border wall. Senator Richard Shelby said over the weekend he does not expect Trump to sign a bill that does not include the funding.
