TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WIAT) — The partial government shutdown has led to the closing of several national historic sites in Tuskegee. There are locked gates and closed signs posted at the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site.

Carol Smith, a Tuskegee resident states, “It’s a hardship on people unless you have a little bit of savings that can help hold you over during times like that.”

The Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site and the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail are also closed due to the partial government shutdown.
