MOUNDVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — The Moundville Police Department is being investigated and its police chief has been suspended. The announcement of the audit was made at Thursday’s Moundville city council meeting.

City Attorney Robert Spence says the audit is over internal records and will review the police department’s record keeping practices.

During the audit, Police Chief Ken Robertson says he will stay on suspension. Assistant Chief Keith Burch will take over as chief while the audit continues.

Robertson will have a hearing before the city council on September 23.
