MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WIAT) — Police confirm eight people are facing charges after Montevallo High School was vandalized overnight and more arrests are expected.

According to Montevallo Police, officers were dispatched to the school around 11:40 p.m. after reports of a large group of people damaging the property. Officers arrived and detained several suspects at the scene and are continuing to survey the damage.

Cindy Warner, with Shelby County Schools, confirmed the school was vandalized and said there was significant damage to the building.

Police said the eight people arrested are being charged with third degree burglary and first degree criminal mischief.
