MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — Downtown Montgomery has been transformed into a movie set. Filming for the film “Just Mercy” began today.  The movie is based on best-selling memoir by Bryan Stevenson, the Equal Justice Initiative executive director who fights to get the wrongly convicted off death row.

The legal drama stars Jamie Foxx and Michael B. Jordan.

During a filming break, Jordan surprised some students in Montgomery.

He posted video on his Instagram page saying, “I was driving from set & saw these young kings standing in their school parking lot doing jumping jacks in 90 degree heat! The sight of them inspires me & reminds me why I do what I do!”
