BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — CBS 42 veteran meteorologist, Nate Harrington, will join the CBS 42 Morning News with Art Franklin and CBS 42 News at Noon with Leigh Garner effective May 28, 2018.
Nate Harrington has over 10 years’ experience as a meteorologist including serving as Chief Meteorologist in Dothan, Alabama.
“I am very excited about Nate joining Art Franklin and the CBS 42 Morning Team. Nate’s morning forecasting will be very dependable, and he will also work hard to be involved in all of the communities we cover,” said Rob Martin, CBS 42 News Director.
“I’m very excited to join a growing morning show and bring my knowledge and humor to a great atmosphere,” says Nate. “Art Franklin, Leigh Garner, and Michelle Logan will be a great trio to work with every day, and I am confident I can contribute to making our viewers’ mornings informative and fun to watch.”
Nate has vast experience covering a wide variety of weather and storm situations. He has served communities from Minnesota, Florida, to Alabama.
“Nate’s education, experience, and passion for being involved in our community on a daily basis makes him the perfect person to bring the weather to our viewers every morning,” said WIAT CBS 42 Vice President and General Manager, W. James Cromwell.
Mr. Harrington has a degree in Meteorology from Florida State University.
He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and received his certified broadcast meteorologist seal from the AMS.
Nate is known not only for his expertise in tracking severe weather but for his firsthand knowledge of the station’s Storm Team Weather Alert Unit. Mr. Harrington has spent many hours in the field and at the very center of severe weather giving his viewers a unique perspective of weather situations as they unfold in real time.
He covered Hurricane Mathew in 2016 along the Southeast coast. Over a 5-day period, Nate was able to deliver over 100 live reports for both CBS 42 News and stations across the country.
