CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A human skull was discovered in the front yard of a residence in the Cedar Springs Community Friday morning.

Authorities were called and began searching the area. Two-tenths of a mile away, they discovered a body severely decomposed underneath a power pole.

In a police report, authorities discovered a ladder next to the power pole with a belt and jumper cables at the top of the pole. It was concluded that the victim had tried to jump power lines illegally to get power to his residence.

The victim was then identified as Randall Stephens. Stephens had recently been released from the Calhoun County Jail on May 16 where he was incarcerated since October 2018. When Stephens was arrested in 2018, he had been getting power illegally from jumping power lines.

Authorities are warning people not to mess around with electricity as it is not only illegal but deadly.
