Local woman goes viral in ‘Shake My Beauty’ video

Local News

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — There’s more to this beauty than what meets the eye.

A video about Karneshia Patton has been viewed more than 1 million times. She’s an athlete, nail tech, model and graduate. Some would say, even an inspiration.

The video of Karneshia ripping the runway on ‘Shake My Beauty’ topped the 1 million mark in just eight days. She says modeling is something new.

“Modeling came about just a couple of years ago once I stopped working in the health field, I just wanted to gear my interest towards something I might like to do in the long term,” she said.

In addition to modeling, her interests also include basketball. Karneshia told CBS 42 she always loved the sport. In junior high, she was a manager for the team because they would not let her play.

Karneshia was born with the congenital birth defect Spina bifida. However, she doesn’t let that stop her from enjoying what she loves to do. She plays basketball at the Lakeshore Foundation, enjoys sports and her day job: a full-time nail technician.

The ‘Shake My Beauty’ campaign encompasses physically extraordinary women, like Karneshia, who are redefining beauty with self-confidence and body positivity. Click this link to see her full story on Shake My Beauty.
