BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Yoga is traditionally a grounded exercise. In this week’s Living Well with Michelle, we’re giving you a look at a type of yoga practiced on the water — paddle board yoga!
Yoga Trekking International co-founder Leisha Knight wants to spread the positive influence yoga has had on her life to others.
“I always felt like I had to be better, and I had to go harder and had to be stronger, and no matter what I did it wasn’t good enough,” said Knight. “Yoga gave me the opportunity to see that I was okay, and to learn to love myself.”
The unstable water surface gives the class an element of unpredictability. The classes are immersed in nature in one of Central Alabama’s most beautiful and accessible outdoor spaces.
“I find that when I walk into an outdoor space such as this,” said Knight. “There’s an immediate meditative state that almost occurs.”
The bimonthly classes will be offered all summer long at Oak Mountain State Park. You can sign up here.
