Now, you’ll be able to watch him evenings on the news desk. Twenty-year media veteran Jim Dunaway takes the next step in his already successful career. An Alabama native and an active member of the community, Jim now joins Sherri Jackson as co-anchor for the WIAT 42 News team.
Jim is the face that’s synonymous with sports all over Alabama. Jim’s commitment and hard work has always proven him to be the consummate professional. The dedication he has given sports over the years and the experience he has gained from both radio and television have prepared him for this next step in his career. Jim is no stranger to covering major news happening around Central Alabama. Among the major stories he has covered, the one that stands out most is the historic snowstorm of January 2014. Jim and Sherri Jackson delivered wall to wall coverage as Central Alabama came to a grinding halt. He relayed critical information that helped WIAT 42 viewers cope with a very dangerous situation that lasted for days.

The University of Montevallo graduate has successfully been the director of sports for major television and radio in the Birmingham market for over two decades. He has gained the respect of coaches and players at all levels of sports around the Southeast. Jim and his wife Maggie have 2 children, daughter Harper and son Carter. They are active members of the Asbury United Methodist Church.
