Jefferson County deputies now carry nasal form of Narcan, Naloxone

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are equipped with a new tool to help save lives.

They each carry with them the nasal form of Naloxone, more commonly known as Narcan.

In 2017, Jefferson County saw 202 deaths due to overdoses of Heroin and Fentalnyl. Sheriff Mike Hale says equipping deputies with Naloxone is expected to help bring those numbers down.
