TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) –  It’s all about the Veterans and celebrating Memorial Day, as hundreds of motorcyclists are expected to roar onto the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center grounds as they are greeted by cheering Veterans and staff.

The event is also about tending to medical needs that they may have. This is the 19th consecutive year they have stopped by Tuscaloosa VAMC on their way to California to the Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C., for Memorial Day.

Run For The Wall is always on the Tuesday before Memorial Day and the time the riders arrive is usually between 10-11 a.m., depending upon traffic and other factors.

The riders arrive in Tuscaloosa from Mississippi and refuel at the Pilot Truck Stop close to our VA. At least 400 bikes are expected this year.

There will also be a brief ceremony outside of the Bldg. 137 and they will have lunch and visit with patients as well.
