HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — School starts Monday, August 12, for Homewood City Schools. The Homewood Police Department is reminding motorists to reduce their speed in school zones.

Drivers should also expect traffic congestion for the first week or so of the school year during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times, Homewood Police says.

The department asks that all drivers remain patient while parents and students adjust into their normal drop-off and pick-up routines as the school year begins.

There will also be extra patrols set up in the school zones for the first week or so of the school year.
