BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — This month, GriefShare will return to the Birmingham area. The program provides support to those who are dealing with the loss of a loved one.

GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you’re going through and want to help. The program is a 14-week series that allows participants work to understand the loss of a close family member like a spouse, parent, sibling or child while surrounded by a friendly, caring group of people.

Trained facilitators, who have experienced grief themselves, will guide participants through the difficult journey. Participants can share their story during group discussion as well as use tools and resources like videos and workbooks to move forward and adjust to the “new normal.” The program is all done in a safe, secure and confidential setting.

GriefShare began over 20 years ago. The nationally recognized program is a product of The Church Initiative based in Wake Forest, North Carolina. It’s now considered one of the most successful and widely used grief recovery programs available today.
