The GoFundMe page reads in part:

On  Wednesday, February 10, 2016 our friend Brittaney “Katrina Shiovan” Owens was tragically taken away from us. Brittaney was a God-fearing, beautiful 26 year-old woman who was intelligent, compassionate, caring, and hardworking with a deep love for her son, family, and friends.  Just as beautiful on the inside as the photographs taken of her, she would light up the darkest room with her smile and joyous spirit. Loved by many, Katrina had a great sense of humor, love for adventure, and a infectious personality.  By way of unthinkable violence the world lost an amazing person and all of her potential.     Our hope is that this faithful seed will begin a scholarship fund for her three year old son Landen who now will grow up without both his parents. We want to make sure that something positive can come from this senseless tragedy. I can’t stop thinking about us as little girls in children’s church and all the plans we made, the things we said we would do in the future. With this money Brittaney we will make sure the vision you have for Landen comes to fruition. Rest in peace my friend!

The page goes on to say all funds will be given to Owens’ mother and family to establish the fund.
