HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — A former Homewood City councilman and well-known Little League coach was arrested Thursday on child sex abuse charges.

Vance Allen Moody, 55, has been charged with first degree sex abuse and sex abuse of a child under the age of 12. He turned himself in to Homewood Police Thursday and was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 12:41 p.m. He posted a $45,000 total bond less than three hours later.

Moody’s charges stem from an incident that reportedly occurred Sunday.

Moody was elected to the Homewood City Council in 2008, but did not run again in 2016.
