BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — College football is gearing up for the final bowl games of 2015. Thousands are expected in town for the Birmingham Bowl with Auburn and Memphis. Organizers are watching the forecast because it calls for rain.
The weather has been on everyone’s mind this past week, especially those who work over at Legion Field. Organizers say that the stadium is ready for kick off and now it’s time for the fans to get ready.
The City of Birmingham Parks and Rec Director Kevin Moore told WIAT 42 News that Legion Field is all set. They have had some phone calls from some out of state fans asking about the weather. Moore says that, rain or shine, they are ready to welcome thousands to Legion Field for the Birmingham Bowl.
“We ask you to come out early, first of all. Any time there’s a storm or rain in the forecast we ask you to be here early to get in early to avoid some of the traffic. Second, we ask you to bring your poncho. We don’t allow umbrellas in the stadium. We don’t want to distract the other patrons who are watching the game, but it’s going to be a fun day,” Moore said.
The forecast does call for rain on Wednesday and cooler temperatures. Kick off for the Birmingham Bowl between the Auburn Tigers and the Memphis Tigers is set for 11 a.m.
