BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – It’s Fitness Friday! And today, we are focusing on your brain. June is National Migraine and Headache Awareness month and it is also Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness month.
Health experts say physical fitness and a healthy eating lifestyle are both very important when it comes to your brain’s function and health. Eating and nutrition also play a major role when it comes to the body and brain function. Other factors that could impact brain function could be the amount of water consumed as well as knowing what food your body may be allergic to.
Personal trainer Peggy Keebler of PK Fitness LLC. has a few helpful tips and exercises that can help with breathing, which in turn impacts blood flow and brain functions. She tells us that sleep deprivation can also have an impact on the way the brain functions. But ultimately, everything goes back to healthy eating habits and nutrition.
Other ways to promote and provide healthy brain function include participating in relaxing events and activities like listening to soft music and reading.
In this week’s Fitness Friday kick- off, Personal Trainer Peggy Keebler shared a few exercises that will help with brain functions and flow.
Shoulder rolls, head rolls, breathing techniques, walking and even stretching are all activities that can help with brain function and health.
