BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Fire & Rescue is working a house fire at 66th Place North.

Firefighters responded around 5:25 p.m. to a home where one room in the house was on fire. According to Deputy Chief Carillo, no one was home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters did not disclose the cause of the fire, however Deputy Chief Carillo asks residents to keep space heaters at least three feet away from any potential flammable objects. He also added that residents need to have their furnaces and fire places checked as the colder months approach.
