Escaped inmate in Montgomery recaptured

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: The Alabama Department of Corrections announced the recapture of inmate Charles Marlin Harris III.

Harris III was recaptured in Wetumpka, Alabama.

He escaped Thursday at midnight.

Original: The Alabama Department of Corrections is on the lookout for an escaped inmate in the Montgomery area Thursday morning.

Authorities say Charles Marlin Harris III, 29, escaped from his assigned job at the Frank Lee Community Based Facility and was last seen at 12:15 a.m.

Marlin is described as a white male, 6-foot-4, 205 pounds with short brown hair and hazel eyes. He has tattoos covering his face and neck and was last seen wearing a black shirt, khaki shorts and brown boots.

Marlin currently serving a 10-year sentence for possession of an altered ID marked firearm.

No other information has been released at this time. If you see Marlin or get information on his whereabouts, you are asked to contact authorities immediately.
