Calera Police Chief Sean Lemley tells CBS 42 they have made an arrest in the homicide investigation of Kathleen Dawn ‘Kat’ West.

According to Chief Lemley, her husband William Jeffery ‘Jeff’ West has been arrested and charged with murder.

At a press conference Thursday, Lemley said Kathleen died from blunt force trauma.

Kathleen ‘Kat’ West was found dead outside her home in the 100 block of Greenwood Circle on January 13, 2018. The homicide case made national headlines as West was a 42 year old suburban wife and mom who also spent time as an adult-themed model on her subscription-based website.

“It’s a tragedy all the way around for everyone. From day one we hit the ground running on this case and gave it 100 percent effort,” Lemley said.

The police chief says Jeff West was cooperative but has not confessed to the murder. His bond is set at $500,000.

CBS 42 received this statement from Birmingham Southern College, where Jeff West reportedly worked as a part-time security guard.

“Jeff West has been employed at Birmingham-Southern College. He has been on administrative leave and his employment is being terminated.”

Coming up tonight on the CBS 42 News at 5 and 6, hear from Jeff West’s father, who believes his son is innocent in Kathleen’s death.
