CARBON HILL, Ala. (WIAT) — Visitation for the late teen Jarrett Turner was held at Carbon Hill High School Tuesday.
Turner was killed in a car crash on Saturday in Kansas, Alabama. Authorities tell CBS 42 News that his car went off the road and collided with a tree.
Emotions were running high as teammates, family and friends, gathered in the school gym to remember Turner on Tuesday afternoon.
“I loved him he was always there for me. If you needed anything, he would never turn his back on you he was a great kid,” said Veronica Smothers, his stepsister.
Jarrett Turner from Saragossa played linebacker on the Carbon Hill football team where he wore number 15.
His teammates are going to miss him having their back.
“It’s going to be different not having him,” said Dylan Cole, one of Turner’s teammates. “He’s really going to be missed. Going to be missed.”
Jacob Kiltore was Turner’s best friend.
“He always had a smile on his face and the happiest person you will meet,” Kiltore said.
The football team tells CBS 42 that Turner will never be forgotten and they have plans to honor him next football season.
“We are going to highlight the 15-yard line in blue and white for in his honor,” Cole said.
