Commission votes to rescind Elks Lodge bingo license

Local News

CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Elks Lodge is at risk of losing its bingo license.

The Calhoun County Bingo Regulatory Commission voted Thursday to revoke the bingo license of the Elks Lodge No. 189 on Noble Street.

Commission members say the Elks Lodge fell victim to a state constitutional amendment passed in November. It prevents a bingo hall from operating within 1,000 yards of a residence.

The matter will now go before the Anniston City Council on March 19.
