CLAY, Ala. (WIAT) – Clay-Chalkville hopes to end a five-game losing streak to rival Pinson Valley Friday night as they host the Indians in the CBS 42 Game of the Week.
The two schools, which are separated by just six miles, have played four times in the last two seasons, including two meetings in the 6A state semifinals. Pinson Valley has won all four matchups en route to two straight state titles. The Indians are off to a 2-1 start this year and enter the matchup as the state’s No. 1 team in Class 6A despite losing star quarterback Bo Nix, who’s now starting as a true freshman at Auburn.
Clay-Chalkville (3-0) remains unbeaten and ranks 6th in the state. They’re hoping for their first win in the series since 2015. The two teams have combined to win three of the last five state titles in 6A. Kickoff Friday is at 7 p.m.
